My Voyage From Spain

October 1, 1501

I have sailed away on this ship from my homeland of Spain at the rightful age of 26 in hope of exploring new lands under the great expedition leaders, Rodrigo de Bastidas and Juan de la Cosa. It has almost been a year since we docked off and so far my hopes have been fulfilled. I have seen many coastlines as we crossed the Gulf of Uraba. These coastlines proved to be inhabitable, for there were villages including that of the Darien. We find ourselves vebturing to an island known as Hispanola. I myslef hope to cultivate this land and become a farmer. It will certainley be a while before we dock at Hispanola so for now I will have to endure this life on the sea for about a year more.
